YOUTH GROUP

Evangelism, worship, fellowship, and service

High School youth group meets every Sunday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bistlines' house.

Reach:  (Evangelism) Acts 1:8
Share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who do not have a relationship with
him.  Develop attitude of evangelistic lifestyle in students.

Relationships:  (Fellowship) Eph. 2:19
Relate to students in a loving, caring atmosphere.  Encourage an understanding of what it            means to be accountable to other believers in a way that encourages their spiritual
           journey.

Grow:   (Discipleship, share, equip) Heb. 6:1
Be closely involved in the lives of willing students who have a desire to develop spiritual-
           growth habits.

Service: (Ministry) Eph. 2:10
Help students understand that they have spiritual gifts to develop and use for God.

Worship:  (Honor, exalt, magnify, praise) Rom. 12:1
Demonstrate to students, by word and deed, ways to celebrate God in their lives.  Show
them how they can honor Him in their individual lives and in unity with other believers.
We also encourage these students to glorify God by honoring their parents

Youth group is a program that is designed to meet the evangelism, worship, service and fellowship part of the Student Ministry Mission statement.  This program is directed by the adult leadership who encourage a vision for the lost and have a desire to bring saved students to a place where they have a yearning to continue in their growth.

Youth group generally meets on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00.  It is a place where students can bring their friends to enjoy a friendly, Christ-centered atmosphere and be introduced to Jesus through singing, Bible devotion, and relationships with peers and adults leaders.  The activities are chosen by leaders to build group teamwork, fellowship and to enhance relationships.

In order to keep true to the goal of youth group, all activities need to be chosen or approved by adult leaders.  If a student wishes to suggest an activity, they may bring their request to any of the leaders.  The leaders will always check with the entire leadership before making a final decision about any activity.  Also, in order to avoid confusion with activities planned outside the leadership, any function where the leadership is not approached should not be under the title of “youth group”.  This includes activities such as Sunday school outings, raft trips or other functions where the most or all of the leadership is not informed or participating in the activity.  In this way, the mission purpose of youth group can remain clear to students, leaders and parents.

Youth leaders work with deacons, elders and women’s ministry to provide ministry opportunities for students.  These opportunities include service ministries such as helping with potlucks, picking up chairs, volunteering as Awana leaders-in-training, cleaning up the coffee pots, helping to plan our church retreats, helping in the nursery and many more ministry-related functions.
